One of the difficulties with German is knowing when to use the ‘little’ words that help you sound less like a robot (or an A2 student!). I was so stoked when I finally grasped ‘mal’, ‘ja’ and ‘doch’. Recently I figured out ‘sogar’ and ‘und zwar’. It happened without warning. One morning I just said to a friend, “I can eat two eggs for breakfast,” then added, “Three, sogar.” I look forward to the day when I figure out how to use ‘eben’!
