The latest in everything that's wrong with Canada: Harper says "Islamicism" is biggest threat to Canada, and would allow police to arrest people without a warrant and detain for up to 3 days without charges simply if the police "believe" the person to be a terrorist. (CBC article)
This is the latest in a long string of scary policies/laws that Harper has introduced since becoming PM in 2006.
Today a colleague used the tar sands as an example of 'eco-cide': murder (-cide) of the environment. That's a very good way to put it. The tar sands are permanently destroying a huge part of our planet – an area the size of England!
G20 haunts me. I wasn't there but I did see the investigative journalism covering the removal of civil liberties during that weekend last year. And now Harper wants to do that again, 365 days of the year.
The police have lost my trust.
Politics is corrupt.
Media has complete control over our access to information and how we think and act.
The people have no voice.
How can this be changed? How can I change this? What can I do? What do I do to fight this?
